Julian Hard Cider

From JHC Storefront

The Julian Hard Cider Tasting Room will be opening any day now. On your next visit to Julian, CA stop in for a taste of Hard Apple Cider as well as a variety of other flavors.

Falling Fireball

From Cali Sunset

No matter how many times I see a golden California sunset, I'm always in awe. There's something about that stops me in my tracks and makes take note of it's beauty. Every now and again I'll even take a picture.

SoCal Xmas

From Christmas in Cali

Christmas Day turned into a stuffed toy, scratch-n-match, Monopoly Deal extravaganza. I can only hope to duplicate that next year.

Santa Barbara

From Santa Barbara

Thanks giving weekend was a great time with friends as well as beautiful scenery. Follow the link to see turkeys on Coleman gas stoves and wine glasses on picnic tables. That's how we do.

Doggy Style

This Christmas the three amigos were each immortalized in their very own, Shepard Fairey inspired poster. Initially, each canine was pretty camera shy, but after a few key toy placements, I think these shots really capture their personalities. Here are the originals.

Zooey

My first choice in Zooeys would be Zooey Deschanel, but this little Ewok-faced munchkin has solidified the number two spot.

gtdubb creative

Yes, we've got stickers in black AND white. Adorn your beach cruiser or tag your car to show the gtdubb love. Bird poop not included. If you didn't happen to get here through the website, please check it out.

Weekend Boys

Warren, Elgin and Taj. Making the weekend rounds to friends' houses, I encounter the usual suspects. All great dogs and all strangely similar to their owners. See more of Taj and friends here.

Pacific Blue Mussel

Foe to the surfer, but an integral part to the oceanic ecosystem, this species can pump up to 3 quarts of water an hour through its gills in order to filter out plankton!

Outtafocus

Sometimes familiar objects take new form when you relax/squint your eyes to blur vision. You begin to see things that aren't inherent to the original object or maybe new forms that are completely unrelated. I like to try and squint the lens sometimes.

Schatzley

This lady killer is Schatzley. He's known for his pungent breath, burrowing in unattended clothes left on the floor and barking at strangers. But one look into those brown doe-eyes and all is forgiven.

Night Moves

Night photography is a very tricky thing with no flash or tripod. Ending up with a usable image takes a lot of trial and error and even more luck. These are by no means perfect, but it still caught my eye.

First Thing

At first light, with a squinted eye, I split the blinds to see if there's any wind. After they snap back to their original mold, I imagine the endless lines of surf rolling in from the horizon. I hope it's good today.

My spidey senses are tingling

Spider silk provides a combination of lightness, strength and elasticity that is superior to that of synthetic materials, and spider silk genes have been inserted into mammals and plants to see if these can be used as silk factories.

TJ & Christy

From TJ & Christy
TJ and Christy's rehearsal dinner from Long Beach Island, NJ. If I took a bad photo of anyone, just let me know and I'll send you a high quality version to print out. Enjoy!

Julian, CA

From Julian, CA
Recently I toke my first trip to Julian, CA. After 10 years of residency a mere 1.5 hours drive away in San Diego County, it was more than time to visit this historic mining town and now apple capital of the world. This multi purpose trip included a stop by the orchard where Julian Hard Cider will be getting its apples from as well as getting a better feel for the town, it's people and history. All knowledge very useful in conceptualizing and implementing the branding of Julian Hard Cider.

HDR Images

First of many HDR tries. I really need to get set up with a tripod and shoot something interesting. Although, I think cool clouds are a bonus.

Balboa Park

From Balboa Park

These are from the second camera R&D trip. Sus and I strolled through Balboa Park during Cali's "Golden Hour" and finished up with cocktails at the Prado.

Ponto

From Carlsbad State Beach

The first trip out with the newsed camera offered up more frustration than imagery. The learning curve is steeper than I anticipated. Oh well, there were a few keepers. I need to get a blower stat.

Guac Off! 2009

From Guac Off!

Congrats to Pat Duncan, the winner of this year's Guac Off! Out of 25 entries, Pat's uniquely spicy guacamole stood out enough to win over the hearts and stomachs of the judges. A fantastic way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends, anyone can host their own guacamole battle. Step by step instruction is only an Amazon purchase away. A big thanks to Lil' S for the diggs, Leon for the masterful grill work and Sus for making it all happen!

Ride to the Races

From Ride to the Races

San Diego Harley-Davidson and Julian Hard Cider team up to celebrate horsepower in all its forms. Starting with a midday BBQ at San Diego Harley Davidson, over 100 riders took off for an afternoon at the Del Mar Race Track. Co-sponsoring the 4th race, both SDHD and JHC as well as the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club helped to raise money for Aseltine School (Julian, CA).

New & Improved

Previously a travel blog, that has now sat unused for a solid year, I'm finally surging forward with my tiny portion of cyberspace as a photoblog and all things visually stimulating.
