En-LIGHTS-en

Taken from Back To Some Time Other: A music review of LIGHTS on Daytrotter. Words by Sean Moeller

"Many times, it really does just sneak up on us. One day, we're still covered by our parents' insurance policy, we're going to school, we're barely employed and loving it, we're having relationship problems but they're just flimsy and throw-away and then we get whiplashed into the dicey waters. We suddenly have our own insurance man or woman and we're starting to develop a distaste for birthdays - lying about our age and generally relishing the way things used to be when we were kids. Dinners were easier (we didn't cook and we didn't pay for any of the food). People were more accommodating and pleasant. Smiles and hugs went a lot further and there were no such things as irony or sarcasm - that we could make out as it wasn't for us to say or comprehend."

This shot makes me think that time still exists even if it's only captured/felt in photographs.

Falling Fireball

From Cali Sunset

No matter how many times I see a golden California sunset, I'm always in awe. There's something about that stops me in my tracks and makes take note of it's beauty. Every now and again I'll even take a picture.

Pacific Blue Mussel

Foe to the surfer, but an integral part to the oceanic ecosystem, this species can pump up to 3 quarts of water an hour through its gills in order to filter out plankton!

Outtafocus

Sometimes familiar objects take new form when you relax/squint your eyes to blur vision. You begin to see things that aren't inherent to the original object or maybe new forms that are completely unrelated. I like to try and squint the lens sometimes.

Night Moves

Night photography is a very tricky thing with no flash or tripod. Ending up with a usable image takes a lot of trial and error and even more luck. These are by no means perfect, but it still caught my eye.

HDR Images

First of many HDR tries. I really need to get set up with a tripod and shoot something interesting. Although, I think cool clouds are a bonus.
